Meet the Candidates

We protect what we love! I’m running to help protect our island home and create renewed health and well-being for our community. It’s time for community control of water, housing for our people, food security, and a healthy ecosystem. E ola!

Witnessing our community’s quality of life being destroyed in exchange for the 'almighty dollar', I’m running to restore balance to our families, neighborhoods, roads, beaches, and precious natural resources. I’m fighting for us all to THRIVE, not just survive.

I'm a problem solver who believes Maui County can be a better place for our families. The county must take swift action to disincentivize the off-shore investment purchasing of our housing inventory. I would make it a top priority for my office to engage youth as a countywide initiative.

know we can create a better quality of life for all Maui County residents. I will focus on continuing support for truly affordable housing through collaboration, supporting a diversified and sustainable economy, protecting the environment, and ensuring a transparent, efficient, and effective government.

On the Council, I have been working to create safe neighborhoods where families can live, work and thrive. I believe housing is a human right, and my goal has always been three basic principles: provide good jobs, in a clean environment, with a healthy economy.

As the Planning and Sustainable Land Use Committee Chair, my priority is to promote collaboration and cultivate a balance, to enhance everyone’s quality of life. We need to focus more on sustainability, health care, and education, as well as retreating from the shoreline, deter speculation, and increase owner-occupied housing.

As the Council Vice-Chair, and Chair of the Budget Committee, I have worked to restructure property taxes to incentivize long-term housing solutions, prevent generational families from being priced out, and generate more revenue from the tourism industry to invest in food security, resource protection, and infrastructure improvements.

As Chair of the Agriculture and Public Trust Committee, I believe our biggest issues are water and food availability. We cannot overly rely on importing our food, and without water, we cannot have housing or an economy. It’s foundational to restore our watersheds to protect our water resources. E Ola i ka Wai!
